PROUD OF OUR

ARTEFACT IS AN AGENT FOR CHANGE

Our purpose is to make the world a better place by using Artefact as an agent for change.

Whilst our passion is heritage and the environment, our purpose is social and environmental change which adds a deeper level of meaning to what we do.

  • BE ACTIVISTS Stand against inequality and injustice in the world around us.

  • DO THE RIGHT THING Make ethical decisions at every level of business.

OUR ACTIONS

  • PURPOSE TEAMS empowered to action our commitments.
  • CREATE employment and leadership opportunities for First Nations people.
  • CONNECT with like-minded organisations to push for positive change.
  • BUILD a successful business that will support our purpose
“I believe that every company has a responsibility to call out injustice and give back to the world that it operates in. Artefact won’t shy away from stances and actions that are required to facilitate real change, whether that’s taking political stands, getting out on the street to protest, or advocating for empowerment. I challenge other business leaders to consider this in their companies, because if we all actioned a progressive corporate Purpose, we could change the world for the better”

    Dr Sandra Wallace
    Artefact Founder and Managing Director

    SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION

Our Purpose Statement, Commitments and Actions guide us as a company.

We believe, that as a successful, modern businesses, we have an obligation to allocate a proportion of our profits and time towards social and environmental causes, to protest inequality and injustice, and to provide better opportunities for First Nations people.

In other words, we see ourselves as an agent for positive change.

Our belief is that corporations are a type of social organisation that have an inherent ability to affect social and environmental change in ways that governments and individuals may not be able to.

Corporations have time, resources and flexibility to make ethical decisions and act for social and environmental change if they choose to. Because of this we believe it is an ethical necessity to embed Purpose into Artefact as a company.

Our Purpose Statement is not just words on a page but important principles that shape who we are and inspire us to make our world a better place.

To realise our purpose, all Artefact Team members are allocated 4 hours per month to work on projects that benefit society. This equates to almost 2,500 hours per year.
